Photographer Profile - Laura Guardiola

posted by Dwayne Brown

One of the coolest aspects of our linkedinPortraits project is connecting with so many unique and different photographers around the world. Some shooters have been doing it for decades and some aren't even 2 decades old; like 18yr old Madrid based photographer, Laura Guardiola. Laura is super creative. She sings, she studies and plays music and she has an insatiable passion to shoot and share her naturally lit portraits, constantly!

We're very pleased to hear that Laura will be attending the prestigious Design and Visual Communication School, IED in Madrid, starting in September. We can only imagine that she will make her time and opportunity at art school a creatively fruitful experience. I'm reminded and humbled, that with our growing community of great portrait photographers on the linkedinPortraits site, we all have creative influence on each other. Thanks Laura, for being so driven to shoot and share your photography - it's very inspiring!

A Great Responsibility and Privilege

posted by Dwayne Brown

One of the best aspects of shooting LinkedIn Portraits, is helping the folks we get to photograph, bridge the cap between either a career change or a personal brand refresh (or often both). As photographers, we have a great responsibility and privilege to use our cameras (and hearts) to help tell Personal Brand Stories - helping people move positively forward in their lives and careers! :)

Helping Our City's Community with LinkedIn Portraits

posted by Dwayne Brown

We experienced a very cool opportunity this past week! As an extension of an ongoing initiative, with Boyden Ottawa and Dress for Success, we photographed 8 women, who are using LinkedIn to help make positive changes to their lives and/or careers. It's always a privilege to donate our time to Dress for Success, as they are a dynamic not-for-profit resource, for woman looking to make these changes. They offer free clothing, critical support and valuable advice to their network of women in various levels of need. We're also very grateful to our friends at Boyden for inviting us to speak earlier this year about the benefits of LinkedIn, during their complimentary 'Dress for Success' career workshop.

As we were photographing the women last week, we thought this would be a valuable post to share, to help highlight the positive potential of portrait photography. As photographers we have the opportunity to really make a difference in people's lives and our community. In this situation, because the women through Dress for Success are on a very limited budget, we chose to offer complimentary headshots to accompany their LinkedIn profiles. The value of offering free portraits is one thing, but the true and humbling value for us, was seeing these women feel more confident and positive about themselves, when they looked at their portraits! :)

If you're a headshot photographer working on an interesting and/or generous project, we'd sure love to hear about it! Please send us the details and/or any comments via our contact page.

The Value of a Personal Branding Portrait for LinkedIn

posted by Dwayne Brown

We’re in a very exciting media rich time. Whether you’re self-employed, looking at a career change or you just want to elevate your corporate profile within the organization you work, paying attention to your personal brand is critical. A professional portrait is one of the most effective ways to enhance your image on LinkedIn, as well as your other social media accounts.

I've been a corporate photographer for many years. I've loved the challenge of photographing senior executives for websites, annual reports and special corporate marketing initiatives. We're now experiencing an exciting new time when individuals and entrepreneurs are very much in need of that same attention-to-detail and corporate style of photography. This helps them tell their personal and/or corporate brand story more professionally on LinkedIn.

With the help of an experienced corporate portrait or commercial head-shot photographer, your profile portrait not only allows others to understand your personal brand story more effectively, it may also help you believe in it, with more confidence!
